Suspects Arrested in Organized Burglary and Cargo Theft Ring
Chino, CA- On August 17, 2022, the Chino Police Department served multiple search warrants in furtherance of an organized burglary and cargo theft ring.
Chino Police investigators have been actively pursuing suspects who organized to commit nighttime commercial burglaries and cargo thefts. During the investigation, several vehicles and subjects were identified as being responsible for numerous thefts totaling more than $250,000 in recent months.
In August, investigators conducted surveillance in the 700 Block of Cameo Court in Pomona and identified a residence where stolen property from thefts in Chino and neighboring cities was being fenced. Investigators served warrants at homes in the 700 Block of Cameo Court in Pomona and the 2500 Block of Catalpa Place in Pomona. Additionally, three vehicles were searched and processed for evidence. The warrants yielded truckloads of stolen property, including clothing, car parts, electric scooters, and electric bicycles.
Investigators connected Jose Portillo, a 40-year-old resident of Pomona, Luis Garcia, a 38-year-old resident of Pomona, and Daniel Altamirano, a 24-year-old resident of Pomona, to the months-long burglary and theft sprees. The subjects were arrested and booked at the West Valley Detention Center on Burglary charges.
