On April 2, 2023, at about 2:07 a.m., Chino Police Officers responded to the 5400 block of Philadelphia Avenue in reference to a call about a possible dead body. Responding officers located a male subject in the parking lot who had been the victim of a shooting. The subject was pronounced deceased at the scene, and officers determined the subject was the victim of a homicide. The victim was later identified as Philip Hernandez, a 51-year-old resident of Chino.
During the investigation, Detectives arrested Taylor Sanchez, a 21-year-old resident of Chino, and Carlos Lugo Meza Sr., a 62-year-old resident of Chino, for Murder and Conspiracy to Commit Murder.
On April 14, 2023, at about 12:30 pm, Detectives arrested Manuel Malgra, a 45-year-old resident of Chino for his involvement in the shooting. Malgra was later booked at the West Valley Detention Center for Murder.
