Outreach

Our outreach efforts are aimed at creating opportunities for positive community engagement where personnel can interact with community members on an informal basis and foster ongoing relationships.

The Department participates in several community and City functions throughout the year. The largest community outreach event is National Night Out. National Night Out is a community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.

Millions of neighbors take part in National Night Out across thousands of communities in the U.S. on the first Tuesday in August. Neighborhoods host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and various other community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel, exhibits and much, much more.

If you would like to request an outreach booth for your community event or would like more information on National Night Out, please contact the Crime Prevention and Community Outreach Unit at 909-334-3178 or by email.
