Chino Police Department

Concealed Weapons Permit Applications

The Chief of Police may issue a concealed weapons permit to qualified applicants per Chino Police Department Policy Section 218.2 when an applicant meets the following requirements:

• The applicant must be a resident of the city of Chino
• The applicant must be at least 21 years of age
• The applicant must show good cause for the issuance of the license

In further defining good cause for the issuance of a concealed weapons permit, it is the policy of the Chino Police Department that no concealed weapons permit will be granted merely for the purpose of personal convenience to the applicant.

Applicants must produce convincing evidence of a clear and present danger to life or great bodily harm to the applicant, applicant’s spouse, or dependent child, which cannot be adequately dealt with by existing law enforcement resources, which danger cannot be reasonably avoided by alternative measures, and which danger would be significantly mitigated by the applicant’s carrying of the concealed firearm.

In the event a request for a C.C.W. Permit is denied by the Chino Police Department, applicants may apply for a C.C.W. Permit with the San Bernardino County Sheriffs Department.

To apply for a C.C.W., send an email to Lt. Wes Simmons. Please provide your name, address, date of birth, California Driver's License number and a detailed description as to the reason for your request.
